A Church with maritime roots
The Church by the Sea was founded to serve Fort Lauderdale’s Harbor Beach neighborhood and has always been deeply connected to the water.
Its sanctuary sits along the Marion River canal, originally dredged from Mayan Lake. Before the building was constructed, services were held aboard the original Jungle Queen riverboat. When it was time to build, the roof of the sanctuary was modeled after an inverted ship hull, honoring its maritime heritage.

Why this Church, why this project?
With 860 feet of canal frontage—and generations of members who live, work, and play along these waterways—the Church by the Sea is uniquely positioned to do more than just rebuild. This project reflects the congregation’s commitment to stewardship, restoration, and leading with faith in action.
